Ingredients

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed

4-5 tablespoons ice water

2 cups mixed red fruits (strawberries, raspberries, cherries, blueberries)

2 tablespoons cornstarch

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 egg (for egg wash)

Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the Crust: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, granulated sugar, and salt.

Add the cold, cubed butter to the dry mixture. Using your fingers or a pastry cutter, blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Gradually add ice water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overwork the dough.

Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Make the Filling: In a separate bowl, combine mixed fruits, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Gently toss to coat the fruits in the mixture. Set aside.

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Roll Out the Dough: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the chilled dough into a large circle about 12 inches in diameter. Transfer the rolled dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet.

Assemble the Tart: Spoon the fruit mixture into the center of the rolled dough, leaving a 2-inch border around the edges.

Fold the edges of the dough over the filling, pleating it as you go to create a rustic edge. Ensure the filling is exposed in the center.

Egg Wash: Beat the egg and brush it over the crust to give it a nice golden color while baking.

Bake the Tart: Place the tart in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the fruit is bubbly.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove the tart from the oven and let it cool for 10-15 minutes. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Prep Time: 50 minutes | Total Time: 1 hour 10 minutes | Servings: 8 slices

                            - Presentation Tips: Serve slices warm or at room temperature on rustic wooden boards, garnished with fresh mint leaves for a refreshing touch.
